Brett first came to national prominence in 1986 when he was named Queensland's 'Craftsman of the Year' in a competition assessing the skills of leading apprentices from all trades across the state. He represented Queensland in the National Work Skills Australia competition and has since quietly cemented his place as one of the nation's master craftsmen.

Brett's work is featured in national and international collections.
